The waste electrical & electronic equipment (WEEE) regulations.
As part of The Waste Electrical & electronic Requipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 each business that selles electrical equipment has a responsibility to either take back old electrical waste in store or become a member of a take back scheme.
We do not take in electrical items ourselvies. Instead the Vakpak distributor takeback scheme makes us exempt from the requirement to take back waste in-store but instead we must provide you with details or your recycling options.
For customer’s local to Sheringham and North Norfolk there are 2 recycling centres within a 16 mile radius where you can recycle eletronics for free.
They are the Sheringham Recycling Centre Holt Road, East Beckham, Sheringham NR26 8TW
OR
Worstead Recycling Centre, Sandy Lane (off Old Yarmouth Road), Worstead, North Walsham NR28 9LX

You may also be able to leave certain small electrical items on your Wheelie bins for disposal. This scheme will be run by your local council and you will need to get in touch with them to find out if this is a service they offer.

Why recycle?
Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK’s fastest growing type of waste.
Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and human health.
Crossed out wheeled-bin symbol
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed‐out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.
WEEEE regulations
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires EU Member States to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of WEEE. In the UK, distributors (including retailers) are required to provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. As a responsible retailer, we have met the requirements placed on us by financially supporting the national network of WEEE recycling centres established by local authorities.
